About Modikwa Platinum Mine
Modikwa Platinum Mine, an underground mining operation in South Africa’s Limpopo province, boasts one of the country’s largest platinum reserves. Jointly owned by African Rainbow Minerals and Anglo American Platinum, the mine holds an estimated 215.2 million tonnes of ore, rich in platinum, palladium, and other precious metals. Annually, it produces around 120,000 ounces of platinum and 110,000 ounces of palladium.
The mine’s geology features the UG2 and Merensky reefs, with the UG2 reef being a notable chromitite layer.
